Squeeeeeeek - 01/09/04 12:59 PM

Hi everyone.

This is my first post but Ive lurked around for quite some time now

I have a 2000 X with a Calmini lift and SS

Ive tried to search so dont flame too much.
But if this has already been talked about just tell me Im an idiot

My truck has been screeching like crazy, but not when going over bumps, so i dont think its the UCA brusings, but when I turn the wheel in any direction.

Just a huge SQUEEEEEEEEEE when I turn the wheel
even slightly
Any ideas?

Again Im sorry if this has already been covered.

loose power steering belt?
get your truck moveing, in a flat parking lot.
take it out of gear, and shut off the motor.
Turn the wheel, "slightly", if the sound is gone, check the belts.. if the sound is still there, check the bushings and suspension parts..

thanks for the reply
No it squeeks when im at a stand still on a flat surface.

What do I look for when checking the brushings?

More specifically which brushings?

What do I look for when checking the suspension parts?

Do you think the SS needs a lube injection?

Try rubbing a bar of soap on each of your belts - that should give you an indication as to whether the belts are to blame. I know it sounds weird, but the belts should cut down on squealing if they are the culprit. Apply liberally and also do it a after you've ran the motor a couple of times so it's spread around well.
