grease fittings - 14/06/03 07:15 PM
Can I add grease fittings to my leaf springs? I've got a wicked squeak in the front spring hanger and every kind of lube I add does nothing. I was thinking of drilling and tapping the front spring bushing and add a fitting. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't drill through the leaf as it may give it a nice failure point.
Check DayStar for a drilled greasable bolt assembly that would fit or, you might want to just invest a few dollars in new front bushings. Swapping them out is pretty simple.

Painting the leaves with a good Krylonesque paint helps the squeak, doesn't harm the structure of the springs, and best of all is cheap.
