Help me identify a part...please... - 15/04/07 02:08 PM

replacing the lower ball joint on my truck and JUST on the inside of the very back of the steering knuckle/spindle/hub---right where the CV axle ENTERS the knuckle (where the little rubber seals are) there is a circular, round, tightly wrapped spring like thing...mine is chewed up pretty bad and I want to replace it but I'm not sure what it is and cant find it on the XterraParts.com breakdown on its site and how it needs to be installed...Anyone?

Nope...Brent over on NOR identified it for me....

"Most likely the seal on the back of the knuckle, they use a spring to hold tension and it has come out.
40227-20N00 It's 40533 in the Xterraparts.com diagram."

picking up what I believe to be the Napa equivelant today and have the actual Nissan part on order just in case....cheap little seal and its all chewed up on my truck...

It should still be on the inside of the hub. I remember seeing it.
