New Shock (nothing special, just shock)

Hi Everybody,
Today my mechanic told me that I need some new shocks since I still have the original ones and the car is pretty old (2000 with 170K).
I'm not looking for anything special or expensive since I don't do offroad.
Maybe just something colored should be fine.
Any suggestions?

its not only a question of "if you offroad" its also a question of , do you pull a trailer, do you drive on uneven roads, to you make turns fast, slow, etc... everyday driving on road has to be considered when you buy shocks, If your driving habbits are slow and steady then you can pretty much just buy any shock you can get for a low price.

Not sure what you mean by "Maybe just something colored should be fine." but if you mean as long as it looks good its fine,.. thats the wrong approach if the X is something your looking to hold on to and use for a while.

just had front end rebuilt complete.. and still running original shocks, being in Ca., light trail, snow, and medium to heavy trailer hauls from oakland to serras, my mechanic said I'm good.. well?
