Splash Guards - 11/03/07 07:43 PM

I just noticed today after I had my truck washed that my rear passenger splash guard is cracked. I know it happened during a snow event. I was thinking of getting it replaced or removing them all together. What do you guys think?

I guess one of the advantages of removing them is the damage part. But are there any disadvantages to removing them? Like rocks or anything?

The only disadvantage I noticed was the extra stuff that flings up, rocks, water, mud....etc
But is beneficial when you are trying to get really muddy.
I wouldnt pay to replace though, because you will just break it again.
In the end it comes down to personal preference.

It just sucks they aren't flexible. Why does everyone make those hard plastic flaps anyway? My last Nissan (pickup) had the ol' 4X4 flaps and they were flexible. No reason to take those off.

just take em off.
I did that after the first snow and saw how much gunk was collecting in them and eventually in the garage.
And the wife likes it better without them.

So many people have removed them you could probably get a set for free from someone on the boards here.

I removed mine. Besides, they hang down too low (although I never got the rear bumper dirty because they were that low).

1. You will not damage them by taking them off.

2. The X looks better without them.

3. Put them back on when you resell your truck because KBB and NADA will probably tack on $10-$50 to the value of the vehicle.

I did remove the back two, but left the front two on because it was kinda hard getting them off in the first place. I think it looks kind of cool with just the front anyway. If you blink you could miss the fact that the fronts are still on.
