Have an 08 X how much air should I be running in my 285/75/16 BFG A/T's?

I'd say 28-32 psi.

If you want to find out what the proper PSI is for the tires on your vehicle, get some chaulk and a dry, flat spot of pavement.

take the chaulk and draw a few lines across the tire. If the tires are over inflated the chaulk lines will thin in the center. If the tires are under inflated the sides will thin.

if the lines thin uniformily across the tire (or completely disappear), you have the proper pressure, or are pretty close to the proper pressure for the tire and the load in the vehicle.

As I have mentioned before, I run 40psi in my BFG 285's. When the tire presure nears 35psi the TPMS light tends to come on. Another benefit is the VDC light also flashes less frequently as (I suspect) I have a tad less body roll. The only disadvantage I find is that I have a harsher ride.

I have 35,000 miles on the tires and they have slightly less than 50% of the tread left.

I run the same as ColoradoBudDog and for the same reasons. On a side note I took my X in recently to have the tires rotated. It was about 2 weeks ago. I checked my tire pressure day before yesterday and for some unknown reason one of them had been pumped to 60 lbs. You would think the tire store would know better, unless someone was trying to get it to wear out quicker so I would have to replace them....

I've noticed and double check, that when a vehicle is in a Bay for service, there will be a chuck on either side of the vehicle. They are not calibrated by any means and around here are usually beat up and duct taped, etc. so I've found many times that one side or another will have either way over or way under pressure.

Only true tale is to check it yourselves and as regularly as possible. Not that I do, since I don't drive the X that much.
