Fuel Gauge Recall

Fuel Gauge Recall - 04/03/10 10:59 AM

As some of you may have heard, yesterday Nissan announced a recall of certain vehicles for a fuel gauge problem.
"Models and numbers of vehicles with potential fuel gauges inaccuracies are:
2005 through 2008 model year Nissan Titan, Armada and Infiniti QX56
Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra produced between January and March 2006 and between October 2007 and January 2008
418,865 in the U.S., 53,253 outside the U.S. (see box for locations)" Since many of the members of this board and other Xterra sites have reported fuel gauge problems I believe that there are more vehicles affected than were mentioned in the release. I encourage all of you that have experienced the fuel gauge sender failure to contact your dealer or Nissan directly to get coverage under this long overdue recall. When I replaced my sending unit I posted some photos of the detail of the problem but they were lost during the Big Crash of the site so here they are again (I hope).

That's BS. Mine was manufactured in fall of 2005, and replacing the fuel sending unit cost me almost $400 at the dealer.

I have a 05 and have this problem, and have yet to get a notice in the mail to let me know of this recall..

I just replaced mine. No a fun job. At least the check engine light is out and I was able to smog the X to register it. I also had to replace the EVAP canister and add the filter kit. Unfortunately, neither of my fixes were included in a recall, but they should have been. I could definitely see the corrosion and wear on the wiper contacts and EVAP canister is definitely a design error from Nissan. The pics are accurate, thanks.

I replaced my fuel sending unit a year ago at the dealer. I too have yet received a recall notice.

Maybe Nissan knows I have already addressed the problem, so they won't piss me off. Maybe they will refund my money. Yeah right!!

I wonder if Nissan will ever address the issue of my Xterra bottoming out?
