The only 17" I know for sure that fit on an X are the new Nissan ones that go with the supercharged edition, but those are quite expensive right now. Do a search for the correct backspacing and offset of the rims before you shop, Xterra's specs aren't very common. I don't think anyone on this board has put 17" wheels on their X. You might want to keep an eye out on ebay for someone selling some off of a 2002 S/C version.

Considering that there is a limited space where your tires reside, be advised that 17" rims and 17" tires will cost a lot more but have the same circumference as 15" wheels with a larger 15" tire. It sounds like you're not looking to offroad but since you'll need a smaller tire profile to make it fit, you still stand a better chance of damaging a 17" rim. That's because you'll have less air and rubber between you and the potholes, curbs, etc. Lower profile tires are generally found on performance cars. Basically smaller rims and more rubber = less $ and more rugged look. Larger rims and less rubber = more $ and more ricey look. The onroad performance may be better with the lower profile but remember we're talking about an SUV. Also remember that whatever you do, you'll notice a loss of power due to your engine trying to get 4 larger objects in motion! You'll also appear to get less MPG. Since your odometer will not know that each tire rotation is now covering more distance, you'll actually be driving more miles than it'll show. Good luck whatever you do.

go to this website http://adaptivestrategies.com/QuantumTek.html and check out s-68 RWD 17 inch model, I've seen this installed on both the frontier and Xterra but the one I saw was a silver color which I think look better on the xterra. smile
