How about stories where 2WD gets the best of a 4WD.

Last fall I went out camping with a bunch of buddies. We had my 2WD X, a 4WD Durango, and a lifted 4WD F-250. It was late at night and I took the left at the "Y" instead of the right. To the left was a dead end. Anyways, I get stuck. But after rocking it I pull forward and was able to turn around and get out. My buddy in the durango comes behind and takes the wrong turn too. He gets stuck in the same spot. Long story short we had to go back and pull him out with the F-250. Except for my clutch being a little burned up, my 2WD got out of a spot where the 4WD durango couldn't.

the durango also has less ground clearance and a ten inch longer wheelbase, both of which work heavily against its maneuverability on the trail

I got one for ya. a 2wd beats my 4x on gas mileage.

The 4-wheelers seem to have an inferiority complex about the potential of being out done by the 2-wheelers.

Proof here! laugh lol

I love all of those "it doesn't matter how many drive wheels u have" comments from guys who dont have 4wd.

but I agree with it. but nothing beats havin 4x on a capable chassis

You really ask for trouble with threads like this. My 2WD has been VERY faithful over the years, and yes it's been on both ends of the strap (More so on one end than the other wink ). A good driver who knows thier truck can do well keeping their 2WD right along side of the 4x4s. Regardless, posting comparisons here is akin to jumping infront of a flamethrower.
Be careful and Enjoy your ride (on or Off-road) [Too much XOC]

i'm not trying to say 2WD is better...I would love to have a 4X4 X. And what I meant by 2WD vs. 4WD was 2WD xterra's against other similar 4x4 vehicles.

At least I don't keep my 2WD on the pavement. I do what I can.
