Fresh off the press!
Album one
Album 2
That was sure a fun trip...Nice to meet ya'll. I have to say Patrick and Mark did Excellent in stock rigs! No rearranged sheet metal and only minimal banging on the under side things.
Also, Barney Riley is now officially declared a 6 rated trail due to some serious degrading.

Great pics! I didn't know you actually found any of the blue crawdaddies that you mentioned!!!
Now I guess I have to believe you...!
Also, some of your Birch tree pictures are very vivid in color...what kind, if any, post-processing did you do (curves? levels?)?

Thanks again Gary for introducing us to that great corner of the Sierras and for your guidance on the trail...probably my best time wheeling & yes the stock rigs did great & is a tribute to the capabalities of the truck when coupled with good driving &, when necessary, spotting.

Auto level and contrast and a slight tweak in the curves..just enough to bring out what seemed natural colors.

Thanks for the pics. Gary ! smile Looks as fun and beautiful as it was.

It wasn't all that hot up at elevation. I guess maybe 85 at the high. It was much warmer coming down through the towns at lower elevations (96 at 6pm, etc.)

Nice pics - looks like you all had fun. I won't be doing ANYTHING until I start working again. I can't take the chance of anything breaking. It's bad enough I had to buy a new battery today. I guess I was running on borrowed time anyway since I still had the original one. Didn't even give me any signs that it was dying - just went kaput in an Albertson's parking lot. It was so dead, I couldn't even jumpstart with a regular vehicle - I had to call a tow truck to get it started. Oh well.

The natural hot tub/spring looks amazing. but I never see pictures with people in it? Is to hot to get in and enjoy?

Also are there some camp site back there or is it just pretty much grab some dirt and set up a tent?

Thanks

The hot tub actually has piping to it that you can control the inflow of hot water...let it flow in and it gets REAL hot, divert the water after the tub is full and it cools, there is also a bucket you can scoop river water up with to dillute the hot water to your bathing fancy.
There is an out house, picnic table and wire spool at the 'camping' spot. Aside from that it's primitive. cool

Sounds pretty nice.......are you allowed to have fires back there if you make your own pit?

Depends on the fire conditions/restrictions. Most of the summer months there are no fires allowed bellow 8000'. You need to check with the Forestry folks and get a permit to travel in there and get a fire permit..as I understand the rules! This area is partly Stanislaus and partly Toiyabe Forests. At the 'main' campsite there is a large pit already made. Any time you want to venture in, I'm up for it! It will be snowing in there in the next few weeks but we still may have time for another trip. Or spring!
Just after the first rains and before it starts snowing is the ideal time to go in the fall. The river is up a bit and after it clears from the initial rains, the fishing is excellent. This is part of the wild fish section where single barbless artificial and release apply.

BRT again? I would love to get in another run before winter sets in. Hopefully first couple fall storms don't dump much/any snow. Next 2 weekends don't work for me at all, though, but I understand you may be busy on the big rocks near Tahoe, anyways.
Is fire permit "difficult" to obtain? Or do you just tell them you want it when you go in for the Use Permit?
(I still haven't gotten over not having a campfire that night!).

Ken (paddlenbike) mentioned to me that he wanted to take a couple days off and go during the week, sometime soon.

I think I'm up for it, depending on the schedule, Jim. laugh In general, week days aren't gonna work for me, but most weekends will.

maybe we should start a new thread, so others can easily see it and join in?
