Hi folks,

I will be spending a week in the South Lake Tahoe area in late September and am looking for recommendations for wheeling in the area. I am anxious to get up into some actual "terrain" rather than the flat land I am used to, so any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Michael

Will you be in a rental 4x4 or your X? If X, then what mods does it have? There are trails ranging from graded fire roads to hard-core boulders. The Rubicon trail empties about 25 miles north of S.Lake Tahoe.

Hi,

If you are in the Tahoe area Sept 30 - Oct 1, you can join us at the Nissan Xterra event. See the topic for more information.

I will be in a rental 4x4. Rockcrawling will be out, but I would really like to get into a couple of long runs in the moderate difficulty range.

Have you seen this thread? It covers a couple of trails at Lake Tahoe.

Check out the post on August 16, 2006 06:18 PM by XPLORx4 on the link above. I checked it out a couple of weekends ago. Very easy trail (except if you make a turn on the Rubicon Trail). I had a good time exploring the different trails in McKinney. In fact, I enjoyed the ride, I forgot about the time and ran out of day light that Friday. I still made it out to join my friends go mountain biking the following day.

Rommel

P.S. Thanks for the trail suggestion XPLORx4

Mt. Wilson, while quite easy is an awesome view of all of lake Tahoe. Only a few hundred feet of wheeling off a dirt road. Barker Pass up to the top of Cadillac Hill might be fun as well, and a short hike to see what it is all about.
