Anyone up for a quick run to Hollister between Christmas and New Years? I know quite a few of you guys have vacation days open during that time. Everyone is welcome to come so long as you have a 4x4. Heres the deal My trucks clutch has gone bye bye so its sits until I can get it fixed. If any one has an extra seat I would go. Wed would be my vote. I wont know for sure until the schedule comes out. My wife would kill me if I took the titan or xterra on the trail.

I might be able to take a day but it depends on how busy we end up being. If can make it I'd prefer a day that isn't actively raining, not that we can tell.

Hollister is kind of like Disneyland, except it's for 4x4s. Very organized and all trails are rated and clearly marked. It has everything from graded fire-roads to nasty modified jeep swallowing trails so you can make it as hard or easy as you like. We will be doing a veriety or trails but nothing too hard-core. I mostly like to go see jeeps get stuck in the mud pits .

BTW, it's a great place to learn how to 4x4 your truck in a controled environment.

Twas me.. Got it back friday the 9th.. the left rear quarter panel, and both left doors look like showroom floor paint.. the rest looks like cow butt.. so far I have gone back to have the rear drivers side door tightened, order new buttons to secure the carpet behind left rear seat, a plastic button securing trim to the left of the hatch. then this week I decided to find out what the clicking soind was evert time I slow down, and I find a loose body mount, right rear, and a bent mounging bold in the bodu mount under rear left seat. I would recomend people avoid the crown dublin body shop.. I can deat with loose, but re-using a damaged fastner holding the body to frame.. that is over the line for stupid..

Ok, I'm going to make a decision and say Wed 12/28.

Let's meet at the 4x4 course at say 12pm.

Looks like the weather should be ok.

Looks like another week of wet weather coming. Are we gonna still want to do hollister knowing how it gets.

A little rain won't bug me, as long as someone promises to get stuck in the mud.

Since I'm not going, I'm counting on you guys to convince Geoff (if he's going) to go through the mud pit with his toyota. Get lots of videos and pictures.

Last time some one sunk a full size pickup it took three guys winching plus a dead weight behind them to get him out.

With all the flood advisories for tonight and tommorow Im not even gonna try to travel any where tommorrow. So Im gonna pass on this trip. Its not worth me traveling 2 1/2 hours in this type of weather for a few hours of fun.

Keep an eye on this thread. Matt and I are thinking about going even if it rains just for the hell of it. I'll post a no go tomorrow morning if we decide not to do it.

Here's the latest weather report for tommorow, it looks like 60-80% chance of rain until 11:00am decreasing to 20-30% (aka. possible sprinkles) for the rest of the afternoon and moving to mostly cloudy/some sun around 3:00pm.

As of the current report it looks like it won't be dumping while we are there so we will just have to contend with the mud left over from the morning's rain.

So, how was the run? I have to experience it vicariously through you guys since I'm in Phoenix visiting my brother-in-law now.

Well, the run was fun, I broke my Rubicon, the other John broke his Xterra lol.

I will be posting pics soon. I am resizing them now.

Was fun, but I won't be doing the mud pit again, having your alternator die and leave you stuck in south San Jose is no the way to end a fun day.

I've read the Napa river rose to 21.5 feet, almost 9 feet above flood level

Even Reno got flooded.

My brother's friend left for Sierra yesterday morning and had to turn back. Then I-80 closed around Vacaville due to 4ft of water on the freeway.

Sounds like I-80 is open again.

Hmmm... I guess I'll work w/ Josh to see if we can put together a day trip to Suger Bowl... I don't know when it'll be though (since I haven't even waxed my skies, yet... )
