So it turns out paypal charges me a 3% fee for accepting payments. Perhaps it's not so great to use paypal after all...

PayPal should only charge 3% if you have upgraded your account to also accept credit cards. If you don't accept credit cards (ie. have the basic account) there is no transaction fee.

BTW, there is a one-time fee of $5 per person for a driver's license, so the total cost per person is $80 (excluding food).

So my suggestion would be dinner after we race, possibly at In-N-Out or some resturant near by. BTW, the $5 fee can be paid at the track by each racer.
