Hello. I wanted to announce an upcoming event we are hoping to be a part of and wanted to get some early feedback on.

Huey and I (Ryan) have been in talk with Jeff Chao, a Nissan North America's Marketing Specialist. He contacted us regarding seeing whether or not our club would be interested in participating in Nissan's "Xterra Lifestyle Exhibit" at the upcoming Sacramento Auto Show here at Cal Expo in Sacramento Nov 9th to the 12th.

His general idea is to see if there would be a possibility of up to 4 NCCX members donating their Xterra's for use at the Auto Show (display) for a total of 4 days (Thursday thru Sunday November 9th to the 12th). General thinking is our club's Xterra's would be displayed at this exhibit in hopes of showing the over 100,000 people that attend this show how versatile the Xterra can be in the everyday and outdoor lifestyle. Ideally he would like to have 2 heavily (visibly) off road modified rigs along with two other Xterra's that could show and represent well the general theme of the "outdoor" lifestyle by holding bikes....kayaks.....gear....etc. All this is still up for debate but this has just been what has been discussed and thrown around so far. This would still be Nissan's display so of course they would have total control over the finished product, but they still are actively seeking our input to make it as good as it can be. There would be no compensation for those who were to donate their vehicles for the display for the 4 days, but in doing so it would help garner exposure for our club by the heavily attended public event and media coverage it receives.

Jeff has also arranged for our club to have a display table at the event to help promote our club even further. Early plan is to have it "unmanned" but stock it with a informational flyers on what we are and what we do.....pictures of some of our Xcursions......and how people can contact us should they have any further questions on the vehicles or should they want to join us on some of our future outings? Early on we are trying to identify the best way to show photos from the club outings so input would be much appreciated here as well. Power will be available if anyone has any "electronic" ideas on how to show trip photos.

I have sent a long laundry list of questions to Jeff regarding details on the event such as but not limited to what security or insurance would be provided for the trucks of the club owners who donated their vehicles for use in the exhibit. As I get more information from Jeff I will post it here......he will be back in the office this Wednesday so expect more information after that.

Jeff would also like to invite everyone to offer up any further detailed ideas for the display to help Nissan promote the Xterra and our club in the best way possible. Jeff said he was going to monitor this forum to see what the involvement may be like and any ideas that we may have to further improve the effectiveness of the display.

If you are interested in having your Xterra be a display vehicle at the Auto Show, please send a description of your Xterra to my email ( slamson00@yahoo.com) and a couple pictures where upon I will forward it to Jeff for his consideration. He would like to receive all information and pictures on possible display vehicles by October 23 (the decision on which club trucks to use will be made later that week). Please include a short description of what modifications you have to your Xterra in the email and what outdoor attachments (aka bike, kayaks, canoe, skies, gear baskets, etc..) you already own that you could mount for display at the show.

In addition, like stated earlier we don't plan to "man" or "woman" our club table at the show just because the standard weekday 8 to 5 work shift won't allow it, but if you have a different shift and would like to sit at the table and help promote the club, directly answer questions etc., please let me know as well. The event is a Thursday through Sunday thing so the weekend may be easier for some people to do should they want to participate in this way.

My apologies for the long email but I wanted to get this out now so we could start to garner interest and ideas on participation in this event. I will be the contact for this event since I am physically located here in Sacramento and I will be directly working with Jeff when he comes into town. Still, if you are physically located in Sacramento and are willing to help.....or willing to drive from where you are and willing to help...............I would love to hear from you too. All help is much needed and much appreciated in advance!

Anyway....please email or post here should you have any questions. Thanks in advance for any help or involvement you may have in making our involvement in the Sacramento Auto Show a success.

Whether anyone actually exhibits their vehicles, I think it would be fun to attend the show anyway, on Saturday or Sunday. Is there any way that club members could be granted "VIP" (i.e. free) admission?

C man..

Thanks for your response. Jeff said he is looking for vehicles that could be released for the 4 full days....so I am not sure just the weekend would work. It doesn't hurt to ask though. Could you send me a couple pictures of your Xterra with a brief description and I will forward it on with the two day limitation....all he can do is say thanks but no thanks.

As far as hanging out at the table for those days.....that would be terrific if you are available. I will put you down as interested in both Sat and Sun.

Thanks!

Sorry Ryan, I haven't found a good used 05 off road X yet so I don't have one to offer, but I'll visit you guys at the show. It's a yearly tradition to go and drool over the new cars.

Thanks for all your interest in participating at the Sacramento Auto show. The NCCX vehicles we would like to feature will be confirmed by tomorrow. Sorry for the delays- once I get back from the Seattle auto show next monday, I'll be much more involved with the planning for the Sac show. In response to some of the questions posed- Entry passes will be secured for all vehicle owners, and members who are working at the info table. In terms of liability and coverage of the cars, Nissan only covers our new vehicles, and the show does not provide any coverage for used vehicles on display. However, the security both inside and out will be provided around the clock. I understand you may have some more questions, mainly surrounding how secure your vehicles and the accsessories attached to them may be. Please share these with me and I will try to address them as soon as possible. You can reply to me direct at my email provided:

**UPDATE**

Hello. I got a response from Nissan's Jeff Chao regarding which club vehicles they would love to have in their display for the Sacramento Auto Show next week. It would require Wednesday to Sunday commitment to leave your vehicle.....so those of you who submitted pictures or interest for displaying your truck on just Sat or Sun....it is much appreciated but it sounds like they have only one period of time on Wednesday the 8th to move vehicles in and move them out on Sunday the 12th.

The following people are the ones Jeff and Nissan would love if you could display your Xterra in their "Xterra Lifestyle Display":

Dave T. ..... yellow X
Josh Palmieri...... silver X with off road trailer
Ryan H ........ green X

It would require Wednesday to Sunday commitment to leave your vehicle.....so those of you who submitted pictures or interest for displaying your truck on just Sat or Sun....it is much appreciated but it sounds like they have only one period of time on Wednesday the 8th to move vehicles in (see attached email below) and move them out on Sunday the 12th.

Jason Samansky ....... Jeff Chao would love to have your Black X there as well but it has to be for the whole time....so if there is anyway you could work it out to have it there Wednesday through Sunday......let me know they would to see it there as well.

As it turns out we will not be ofiicially "manning" or "womaning" our table. For all of you that expressed interest in doing that I thank you. You are still welcome, if you would like to attend the show, spend some time at the table if you would like to....but we wont set hours that someone has to be there or anything like that. I have a NCCX banner to put out and with the help of Huey I am working on a flyer to leave there as well. I am hoping to get some stickers to leave out as well so hopefully all this will be sufficient.....in helping promote our club, the vehicle, and activities we enjoy.

Here is the email from Jeff:

**********************************

Ryan,
ALL of those club member Xterra entries for the display look good and we would love to have them in the show.
I would love to have the black one as well, but if they can only make
it for sat and Sunday, we won't be able to get it in.
I have secured an area for up to 6 vehicles in the outside stage area.
The show management has assured us that there will be 24 hour security
around the area. The area we have for you is outdoors, around the rear
of a stage/performance area. This area will be exclusively for your
club.

In addition, do you have any banners or signs to hang near your
display/table? Let me know if you have plans for doing the table- I don't
think it will have to be manned.

Set up is tentatively scheduled for (Weds, 11am-8pm) and out (Sun, Nov
12, 6:00pm). The move -in time is for our vehicles- if your owners work
and cannot make it until the evening, then lets try for a time they can
all make it out.

Let me know if you can talk some time and we can discuss the concerns
or questions you or your members might still have.

Thank you

****************************

It would be great to have at least 3 to 4 vehicles there. The ones listed above I think will give us a great variety and cross sections of vehicles in our club and just what you can do when you want to really outfit an Xterra. For the people listed above please verify that you can deliver your Xterra next Wednesday to Cal Expo between the hours Jeff talked about above. If not let me know and we can work something out.

Please post any further comments or questions here....I will pass them on to Jeff....plus Jeff is also monitoring this post.

Thanks!

No problem Jason...thanks for the interest though. If you make it down look up our display.

***UPDATE***
I talked with Jeff yesterday afternoon. He is still chasing some information for us on what type of condition our vehicles are to be shown in (clean or dirty) and getting us a map......securing exhibitor passes for members displaying their trucks, etc.....

But at this moment members displaying their trucks the tentative drop off time will be 6:00pm Wdnesday evening, Nov 8th at Cal Expo in Sacramento. If that is a problem for you Josh or Dave let me know ASAP and we can work out something different with Jeff. People displaying their vehicles will also have to leave a key with Cal Expo's main security incase there is some emergency that requires our trucks being moved (fire, flood, etc...). The vehicles must be locked the whole time as we are not expected to "display" the inside of the vehicles.

Some further information on the display.....the Xterra Lifestle Exhibit will be in the outdoor vendor/display area behind the stage (still hoping to get a map). This is not at the main Nissan display area that will be indoors with the other major manufacturers but Nissan will help stage our display, sign and facilitate it. The current plan is to have two new 2007 Xterras mixed in with our NCCX club vehicles. Anyway should be a great display once we all get there and set up with the new vehicles. Once again there will be 24 hour security and it will of course be behind and inside Cal Expo...not on the outside of the premises so only the paying public will be allowed to enter the area where our vehicles will be.

Once I get more info I will post here.....but for Josh and Dave....right now plan on meeting me at Cal Expo next Wednesday at 6:00pm.

I know Josh is bringing a large number of club decals for our display table as give aways.....I will bring a Flyer that huey and I have worked on giving club contact info....and I also will have the NCCX banner to set up so it will be a simple........yet hopefully effective way of attracting new members to our group.

Thanks...and stay tuned.

Yeah I haven't heard back from Dave yet on whether we have to detail out or not. At this point I would assume you need to. I have mud all over the sides of mine so I was kind of hoping I could leave it on there. Not sure when I will find time to wash it...hopefully tomorrow evening.

Here is the reponse on whether or not to detail out your X if your showing at the Auto Show...

**UPDATE**

Regarding the
condition, I think if they have dirt on them it should be OK. It is a
very subjective measure, but we wouldn't mind if they looked like they've
gone through some mud lately. In fact, I believe in the past for
displays such as this, we have put some cars through mud on purpose. I would
have to leave the condition of the vehicles up to the individual
owners. If the vehicle has some mud but looks "presentable," then it should
be OK. IF it has mud all over, and the windows are dirty and generally
looks junky then that is another matter altogether. I hope this makes
sense!!

No problem Huey...thanks for your help as well.

Also...to further clarify the meeting spot tomorrow night for those dropping off their trucks for display (Josh and Dave) we will be meeting Jeff in the parking lot of a restaurant called "Tokyo Gardens". It is right across the street from one of the main entrances to Cal Expo. The address is 1801 Exposition Blvd at the corner of Exposition Blvd and Challenge Way. From there will will follow Jeff back into the display area.

Here is a map of the event for those that would like to come on down and pay us a visit.

On the left side of the map where it says "Expo Center" is where our display will be.
