Thought I'd show off some of the pics I took as Ramstein92 and I finished our PADI open water diver certifications this weekend.

I know this could be used as an instructional course on BAD photography - but in my defense, I haven't used a film camera in 5+ years, this is a cheap camera, and the viewfinder was off...

.... but I still ended up with some decent shots and great memories:

Rest of the pics HERE

Cool, congrats on your certification. Is that pool looking thing where you took it? Is it a natural body of water of some kind of extra large pool?

It is Balmorhea 'hot' springs. Use 'hot' loosely (loosly? babyx help me here). The water is a constant between 72-76 degrees. The spring put sout around 1 million gallons a day (I believe that is what the plaque said). Not a bad place for certification, but a little to small - for me - to make another 8 hours one way drive over a regular weekend. Mexican food in a local restaurant was decent.

Kind of both... but apparently it is close enough to "open water" for PADI.

It's technically an "artesian spring" with a man made top on it. It's a little bizarre - because from the top it looks like a huge swimming pool... but then when you look in it it has a natural rock/sand/fishpoop bottom, algae, fish, turtles etc.

I'm surprised they don't take you guys up to lake murray in OK, it's as clear as that and probably deeper in spots

Yeah it's Balmorhea. Nice place out in the middle of west Texas. Last time I went it smelled horrid, like mad sulphur smelling. But it's a great place to stop in if you're ever road trippin' out that way.
