This is an open invite to anyone that would like to join in on a Saturday (10/9) Big Bear run. We will most likely be doing John Bull and/or Holcomb Creek. I will be there with my Calmini SAS Xterra. Ian and Leslie will be along for the ride. Anyone joining should be equipped to handle such trails. Sunday the 10th we will be at the Off-road Expo.
PM or email me if you are interested.

-Doug

Just a follow-up since I can't find the original thread from last month.

Leslie and I will be in the LA area Friday night. Anyone who was interested in having dinner and drinks with us, chime in.

We'll also be doing dinner and drinks somewhere Sunday night.

Once I verify the locations with Doug, we'll post where (seriously, I only had one beer last night Doug, and I forgot what we decided).

Anyone who wants to contact us over the weekend while in LA, call 303 478-5309.

Doug/Ian,

I did Holcomb Creek last week. It is not really even worth it. It has been stacked and filled in to no end. I think we should stay with John Bull and maybe Gold Mountain or White mountain. It is up to you guys but that is my opinion.

I am looking forward to seeing that thing in action and also meeting Ian.

There a few of us from SCCX that will be joining you for the run.

Jason

Thanks for the heads up. Let's go with John Bull. We can see how we are doing and add Gold Mountain or what ever looks good.
It's been a while since I've been in Big Bear. What's a good meeing place? 9:00 am sound good?

I was thinking of the McDonalds on Baseline and the 30/330. That way we can Xvoy up there and all be together so we don't get seperated.

Any objections?????

Doug,

John Bull [3n10] West bound from the 3n32 intersection to 3n16 is the preferred route at the moment. The tougher stuff is around 2 miles long and takes ~ 2 hours if the trail isn't busy with traffic.

Going up the mountain we normally meet at:

Mc Donald's off the S30 just before you head up.
27774 Baseline St. Highland, CA 92346

For those already in Big Bear we meet at the Fawnskin fire station

Besides Gold Mt that is really not that challenging I would recommend Heartbrake ridge [2n61Y] and Pontiac Sluice that ends near Oynx Summit off SR 38.

FRS channel 10, subcode 24

Ok, McDonalds at 8:30 am. We will do John Bull and then we can decide what to do next based on time of day, size of the group and local trail reports.

See you then,

Doug

Brian,

We are going up, not down, correct? That turn going down is hairy.

Gold mountain is harder than Holcomb Creek right now. We made our own route through the boulder field last time which made it a bit more challenging. (it is all rocks no plants so there is not a problem)

I would like to do Heartbreak Ridge also. We will play it by ear. Krisjon is coming and riding shotgun with me.

We'll be eating at Tuna Town on Sunday night, I would estimate around 6PM if it takes that long to drive from Pomona to HB.

Hey Ian...

If you want, I'll bring a half gallon or two of some local grog from down here for all of us after the run. My buddy is the brewer at Pizza Port and has won tons of awards in the Great American Brew Festival, etc.

http://www.pizzaport.com/brewing-awards.html

He knows his shit and makes some damn worthy beer. I know you're a Guiness guy, but let me know if you're interested and what kind of beers you'd like to try. I'll see what Tomme's got on tap. Looking forward to the run on Sat.

As far as I know it is. I know Ian was talking about it on the trail yesterday. I would go too but I am at work all day.

that sucked.... i spoke to patrick on sunday...

I had oral surgery friday(really came to the point where i could not avoid it, trust me i tried) and the idea of eating or drinking anything beyond instant breakfast and soup really was no where near reality.

and thus decided i was better off staying home because we had some family in town from AZ.(not the kind that would appreciate TT as they hate sushi)

hope you guys had fun...
