I am heading to Bakersfield for the day on Saturday...any suggestions of where to go wheelin' within a hour or two of there? Does anybody know if Hungry Valley is open or closed due to the fires up there? Driving stock '06 4x4 offroad.

You might want to call the guys over at Calmini to see if they can give you any pointers since that's their backyard.

See you in Moab,

Doug

Bako isn’t known for wheelin, pretty flat…I recall somebody told me there is like one hill and that’s about it.

Hungry Valley OHV is open…the LP NF areas /trails that you can get to from there such as Alamo Mt where closed for fire repair last I heard for a while but you can always check at the entrance booths at HV for the status.

We're having a run to Calico this weekend past Barstow but you can get there from Bako pretty easily. Both days including some camping so stop by:
