They must be in collusion with another one of those groups, because we all know who runs America.

Apparently, the pope is trying to pass (which I don't think the term is correct, because the pope is infalliable, meaning god talks through him, so what he says goes, without question) a thing that puts Mary at the same level as Jesus, meaning you can pray to either one, meaning you can ask/do whatever of Mary as done with Jesus.

Pope John Paul II may have written an epistle stating the benefits of praying to Mary and perhaps commentary on her purity. From the New Testament and in Catholic doctrine, she and Jesus are the only human beings conceived without original sin. In that sense, they are the same.

But really, you can pray to whomever you want. As a Catholic, I don't dial
up deep to JC for the big stuff and keep St. Ignatius on the back burner for help with bunions.

Can you show me where it says that? As a former Catholic, no one was able to show me that so I came to realize that she was a sinner, just like the rest of us. Her importance was that God chose here and all, but she was still a sinner.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Jesus WAS born with original sin - he was baptized by John. Mary was the only one born without original sin. (Though I guess you could argue that Adam and Eve were, too - as there was no original sin until they ate the apple).

Jesus did not have original sin. It is theorized that original sin is passed on by the father. JC's father being the Master of the Universe freed Jesus from original sin as well.

Mary was born without sin. From ewtn.com (the Catholic cable channel): "Mary, 'full of grace,' has been recognized by the Church as "all holy and free from every stain of sin,' 'enriched from the first instant of her conception with the splendour of an entirely unique holiness' (Lumen gentium, n. 56).

Interesting. So, what was the point in Jesus being baptized? To lead by example, I'm guessing?

Yep, the baptism by John lead the way for others and proclaimed a new faith. Jesus was a Jew, after all. After baptism, Christ's ministry began.

Those 12 years of Catholic edumacation are finally paying off! laugh

Jesus was born without original sin. (The Immaculate Conception).

The only other known humans born without original sin are Adam and Eve because sin originated after their rebellion.

The Pope is not passing anything equating Mary on the same level as Christ. Catholics have always prayed to Mary. Didn't you ever hear of the prayer called "The Hail Mary"?

Catholics also believe upon her death she was taken up to heaven, body and soul. She is considered the Mother of the Church.

..................................

What's with the recurring anti-Catholic stuff on the board?

What's the death toll this year alone from Catholics strapping on bomb belts? What's the death toll this year from Catholics driving truckloads of explosives and blowing them up? What's the death toll this past week alone? Or how about today?

Some people here could do with a little less PC and diversity training and a little more reality.

Stop being cowards and criticizing the Pope because he's an easy target and it's accepted by your cowardly rules of political correctness to insult a white Christian leader. Direct your bullshit against those who actually preach and practice hatred and death in the name of religion. There are those who would kill you and your family in the name of religion if they could. The Pope would never advocate harming anyone.

If you are anti-religion then insult them all with equal enthusiasm. At least start with the worst and most dangerous and deadly.

The "Immaculate Conception" refers the conception of Mary, not Jesus'. True dat, on the rest.

But what's with the weak whining over the Catholic jokes and commentary? You almost sound like a crying deviant liberal. Very unMadman like of you.
