With the warmer weather, usually weekly or biweekly. If nothing else, I'll usually hose it off under pressure thouroughly, just to get the dust and funk off of it.

When I wash it, it's nearly an all-day affair. Wash, dry, wax, detail. Just last weekend (not this past one) I spent a good six to seven hours on the thing... But then, I washed the undercarriage off, cleaned all the door jambs, cleaned crap out of the rubber gaskets, washed the rubber mats, etc.

BP - I'm glad I'm not the only one that anal about washing my X. When I wash mine (bi-weekly usually), I'll usually take the entire afternoon. It's not worth my time to just wash and dry; I like to get all of the nicks and crannies

after wheeling in PA a few weeks ago, i had to get that nice little gash taken care of, so i paid some jabroni $100 to totally detail inside and out! then it rained that night...i usually wash it every friday night, unless there's rain in the forecast. when it gets warm out, i'll try to do it every other sunday at home...
we have a water softener, so the water's nice and nice...

a true cleaning with soap, water and a sponge...maybe october. perhaps november. not sure. i need to get some wax on her, cause she is starting to get more backwoods custom pinstripping on her, and a coating of wax every few months goes a long way to helping. but i almost have too much already to really care. I hate to say it but i have already been thinking what color i am going to paint her next year when it gets really bad. so a real washing is coming up next weekend, unless i end up out of the trails. *cough* gothamist *cough*

I wash it once a week if I notice salt on the sheet metal. I spend a great deal of time on the underbody. I vacuum, dust off and and clean the windows (inside) about once a month. I also go around the truck looking for chips which I fix with the touch up about once a month.

I know the feeling. I didn't realize how many "backwoods custom pinstripes" I've added until I washed it. Funny how wax really does hide the small ones and obscures the bigger ones.

Oh well, it goes with the territory. This is why I can't get my friend with her Durango out there. V8, 4x4, and it'll never see dirt. "I don't want to scratch my truck"

I ran my X through Mike's Car Wash (Brushless)on Sunday. It got the underbody wash this time. The last wash was 2 weeks prior. I use to "rub" on new cars that I've had all the time, but now that I'm just a little bit older, some of the aches and pains dictate that this be done in the easiest and quickest manner possible. Once it warms up, I'll do the quick wash at home at least once a week. Maybe every other week, weather permitting, I'll get into a little more detail.

My X currently has 14,893 miles. it's been to LA several times, oregon a few times, and lots of pavement.

2 washes in 4.5 months!

I can't even imagine washing my Xterra as often as some of you folks! I check the weather forecast from NOAA when considering a washing. If it sounds like I can get about a week without rain or snow then I MIGHT wash it. If it's just going to get trashed again in less than a week forget it. I'm too busy using my Xterra to take me on my recreational pursuits (kayaking, canoing, camping, hiking, sailing) to wash it often.

Bottom line: I probably wash it about every 6 weeks from April through October, maybe once or twice from November through March. I try to wax my vehicles once a year.

Dude, I would love to keep my Xterra clean, but we have had like 7 inches of rain in March, so it really has not been possible this month. And since I got it in December, it has been so cold I just have not been able to handle it.

But I did wash it the week after Xmas for the first time and ice was forming on the roof as I rinsed it off!!!!

Haven't you guys seen the X in it's natural habitat? They tend to bathe like birds or hippos and prefer a dirt/mud bath.

Of course we do and it revolves around the X and XOC. I wash mine every week. I am possibly relocating to Ohio and I already have plans to build a wash basin in the garage for the X to keep the lovely road grime off.

I just did mine this weekend. First days in chicago above 50 this year. Washed, Waxed an Polished her for the first time. Found out a couple things in the process:

1 - a white truck makes it real hard to tell whrn the polish or wax has hazed over.

2 - my X has a lot more sheet metal to wax and polish than my little Saturn did.
