You do realize a good paint job (not Maaco or Earl Scheib)is $5K or more? If it's less than that it's not being done right. And even that doesn't include painting in the engine compartment and other places that require removing major components. Also, repainting will reduce your resale value considerably, especially if areas like the engine compartment and interior of the behicle are not painted to match.

I'd think two, three, four, five times or more about the short term and long term expense and consequences.

As our friend ChuckH pointed out, a first class paint job costs big $$$. You said the blue was kinda of dull... so why not add some cool tribal flame graphics and some chrome spinner wheels. That way you'll 'stand out' in a crowd and be noticed.

Have you tried bringing the truck to a shop that does detailing?

Maybe they could do a light compounding and a really good wax job. That could bring back the shine.

It's a thought....

Shit, I'll paint your truck with a case of Krylon for $100 (that includes spraying the crap all over the engine compartment too)....

It may be cheaper in the long run to buy a new X in the color you want then to paint your current one.
