Does Bug and Tar cleaner work well? Will it harm the paint of moldings?

It works well, but it's easy to scratch the paint by rubbing. I find that a claybar kit works better for that kind of stuff and if done properly does not harm the paint.

Either way you'll be removing wax though, so you'll need to put fresh wax on when done.

I find a solvent like WD-40 works a LOT better.

(about the only good use I have found for WD-40)
