Heya, I'm posting this in case anyone has considered doing the same. My front grill was beyond faded... so I pulled it off, cleaned & used steel wool to make it nice & smooth... then painted it with glossy black Krylon fusion. I must say, the Krylon looks pretty good! I only did this because I was prepared to buy a new grill... so I figured I'd see how the spray paint looked, and now I'm going to hold off on the new one. Krylon uses a better nozzle on the Fusion spray can, too. Here are some pics...

That blended really well, you can't even tell it's not original, unless you know. I'm glad that someone experimented with this because it gives all of us an idea of what to do when ours start to fade. It's nice to see brave people out there every once and a while, cause I know I'm not one of them...at least while my warranty is still good.

I agree - it does look good. IIRC Brent(offroadx) did his a while back.
How did the black grill match up with the X's paint? (your X looks like it's black)

dave and xtoy - with a dull grey grill

It matched up pretty well. You can only tell a difference if you get up real close and look at the grill vs the rest of the car. I *think* if I were to put a layer of clear coat over the krylon, it would have looked identical to the rest of the car, but I didn't do that... I wasn't expecting it to come out looking nice at all. The last time I spray painted something, I had runs everywhere! [Freak] but the krylon stays really well and didn't run anywhere.

WOW x2k ya know uhm....uh....Yeah
personally i think that looks horrible

But hey to each their own right

Uhm good job on an even coat though and nice job on the color match.

Maybe if you did something to the lower bumper so it didnt clash as bad? Maybe paint the lower bumper with the krylon fusion black. Who knows

Looks good, though I don't care for the glossy look myself. I used Dupli-Color Trim Paint when I got tired of the grey grille between the TJM and the wind deflector:
