For those who are only half anal - not paint masters neither those who don't care about chips - I have found the following works well to fix smallish (1-2mm square) chips with Nissan Paint Pen touch up paint:

1) clean area with alcohol, remove loose crap with needle;
2) clean again;
3) dab fair amount of paint over chip, overlapping onto the good paint;
4) let cure a day or so;
5) use new credit card to 'chisel' overlap (like applying spackle to a crack in a wall);
6) repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 maybe three times until the chip is ALMOST even with surface;
7) use scratch remove (Meguiar's, Turtle Wax) and rub off excess stuck to good paint surface;
8) repeat 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 with Clear Coat portion of Nissan Pen Paint.
9) Let cure;
10) Wax and go...

Probably been discussed, but the results are acceptable and I was stoked I pulled it off...
