Is the exhaust tailpipe different in the earlier Xterra’s? It seems like the older Xterra’s tailpipe is more visible from the back and hangs down lower than the newer X’s. Is their anything you can do to keep the tailpipes looking as new as possible? I don’t like the look of the chrome exhaust tips I just rather have my exhaust pipe hidden as much as possible. I have seen a lot of older X’s that have just been washed and cleaned and the way the exhaust pipe just sticks out it makes it look crappy. Sorry if this has been posted before. I just wanted to know what year they changed the exhaust tailpipe location.

They changed the exhaust over the years... yours is a different design and starts higher than the older ones... it shouldn't sag down unless you have larger issues...

I agree, they are ugly. I think I am just going to paint mine with a high-temp flat black paint. Should mask its ugliness a bit.

My mechanic painted mine black. Looks much better!

Am I missing something or is this from way out of nowhere? Were there posts that got deleted that makes this one look so rediculously out of context or is it just a stand alone flub?

I am not trying to pretty up my vehicle's asshole, I am talking about using black paint to hide it.
