Is generic touch up paint just as good as Nissan's regarding durability. No area Nissan dealers stock Black Touch Up and a local auto parts dealer has Black that supposedly matches the Xterra.

I don't care about exact color match, I just don't want it to rust in the chipped areas.

Well, if you don't care about exact color match, why are you asking us? Black is black. It's not like fungus is going to start growing out of that spot if it's not perfect.

I was touching up some dings today and wanted to top them off with the 'clearcoat' that comes in the pens (one end paint, one end clear). But it was all dried up. frown

No matter, after polishing the spot with some 2000-grit wet sandpaper and Meguiar's #3, it's as shiny as everything else.
