ANYONE WHO HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT PLEASE RESPOND. NEED TO KNOW WHAT BROUGHT YOUR TRUCK TO THE SHOP AND IF THE CODE CAME UP ON YOUR X'S COMPUTER WHEN IN FOR SERVICE. MINE DIED ON HIGHWAY AND WAS TOWED TO DEALER SINCE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WOULD NOT FIX SINCE "CODE" DID NOT COME UP. DID MINIMAL CHECKING OTHERWISE. NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE NO HELP. AGREED WITH DEALER THAT IF THERE WAS NO CODE THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. RECALL TIME?
A fuel sending unit failure will not cause a code to be stored in the ECU. It's the connections to the fuel pump that are failing and the truck will act exactly as if it ran out of gas.
My X-Terra died in the middle of the highway also and I had to have it towed to the dealer. I have one of the earlier posts about the fuel sender problem. I tried calling Nissan Customer Service and wrote to Nissan Corporate and got no response. Your best bet is to file a complaint with the NHTSA. If enough of us complain maybe Nissan will do something about it.
