I tried a search for the topic without success. The rear cargo area panels are scratched from previous owner. The scratches are located right above the area where the toneau cover pvot pts are. They look like they were caused by the corners of an oversize object in the cargo space. Can these scratches be repaired? If so, how? Thanks

Yep; I'm ordering new ones this week and they are only $33 each. AFAIK, there is no good way to repair them. The material is cheap ass stuff and just doesn't hold up well. Good news is that it's cheap to replace!

Getting them from Xterraparts. Send them your VIN #, interior color, and description of which panels you want and they'll set you up. Nissanwholesaleparts also can get them for you for about the same price.

If you want the interior to look perfect, then replacing the parts as ChuckH suggests, is the only way to go. No telling when you carry something that will cause new damage tho...
If the damage shows because the scratch is a lighter color than the rest of the plastic, then you can make it less noticeable. Dremel makes a nylon brush that used carefully, can reduce the color difference. The resulting surface texture will not be the same of course. What you are doing is ever so slightly melting the plastic from the heat produced by the brush's friction. Takes a deft hand and the results will not be perfect. Will have a shine. Tapping (not rubbing) with coarse sandpaper can cut the gloss. May be good enuf for some tho. Same technique can work on the grey bumper parts too.
