TXR, all dusty and broken, participated in this year's Offroad Expo held in the Sandy Convention Center. The XterraRacer was the only vehicle on display that would show battle scars and mud, providing evidence that it goes out and has fun. Other vehicles on display included the 1066 car (Miller & Dawson) and a plethora of Toyotas, Jeeps and other creations.
The XterraRacer shared the KC HiLiTes booth with a one of a kind buggy, custom made for KC. The crowd was very much intrigued with X and found it entertaining to watch some testing videos provided on a small TV under the front bumper. People stopped and poked their heads in to see what a real race car is made of, and frequently asked how we munched the drivers side front fender. The stories of desert racing told the rest. A broken lower control arm, a snapped tie rod and a cracked upper control arm - this is part of racing in the Mojave!
On Saturday, TXR invited Edge Cameras (located 1 booth over) to visit the X. After some good discussion, Edge Cameras
www.edgecameras.com agreed to sponsor the XterraRacer with a new camera system! This set up is bulletproof! With 2 cameras on board (1 facing forward and the other facing the driver / co-driver) and a small DVR encased in a weatherproof box this is going to be the system that brings you into the cockpit. The DVR has a screen to show the footage as its rolling, while using a remote to start and stop. The DVR slips into this box and is locked into place. The resolution of this set up is unreal! 720x480 and 520 lines is going to knock your socks off! We will get some test time in shortly and post some videos; stay tuned! This is the kit we now have on board: EdgeCam1250
