I am looking at set of tires and wheels of the local classifieds that were originally on an 05 X. Will they fit my 02? By the looks of them they have the same 6 bolt lug pattern. Thanks for the help.

Nope. The bolt circle on the 05+ X is smaller than the first generation ('00 to '04) X.

is there any type of adapter that will interchange them?

You would have to find a 6X5.5 (your bolt pattern) to a 6X4.5 (2nd Gen bolt pattern) to make them work. If they make such an adapter.

Not to mention that the center hole in the wheel is not near big enough around for your front hubs to go through, so you'd have to have the hole made bigger.
