Looking for some info on how these tires perform on the street, especially wet roads. My driving is weekdays roads, weekends treking jungle trails and beachcombing

Hafa Adai. Im not sure about the tires, but I know there is some great 4 wheeling on Guam. I know because I lived there during highschool (JFK), and we used to rent the suzuki jeeps and thrash them in the boonies.

Yes Guam does have some excellent opportunities for serious 4x4. Ideally, I'd have two sets of tires, but really, how many of us have that luxury. would really appreciate some info on these tires or another Mud terrain that handles wet roads well(were talking coral based slick patches)

I haven't personally experienced the Mickey Thompsons, but a buddy of mine used to have them on his Jeep. From what he told me, they are great offroad, and absolutely terrible on-road. When the street was wet, he would slide all over the place.

I have the BFG M/Ts (just got them today) and from what others have said about them, they do great offroad and good on-road for being a M/T.

good info killerx, do you know if your friend was using the radial version...

on road performance on wet roads is extremely important (carrying two children and the missus)...

actually, it's the wife who really likes the mickeys compared to the other Mud terrains out there...likes the aggressive tread...plus able to get a really good deal on a set of Mickeys

anyone have experience with the yokohama geolander M/T

I have Mud King MT's (bfg off brand) and they are definitely great for offroad and have handled all the rain here in Texas for the last 2 months without complaint. (Obviously not as well as the stock tires, but for mt's, I can't complain at all.) No sliding or anything.

I do..

Those are the tires that I have on my second set of rims. Here is my take on them. First let me say that I have owned BFG M/T's so I can make a somewhat informed compairson.

They handle wonderfully (for a M/T) on the road and due to their directional make they are great in the water. Off-road they are better than the BFG M/T. I know that they recently went up on price. When I bought mine I got them for 99.00 a piece (31x10.5R15)

So.. if you are trying to choose between BFG and Yokahams.. go with the Yokahama..

Oh.. there is ONE bad thing about the Yoko's.. because of the fact that they are directional you have to carry a uni-directional spare. :-)

I've got a set (radials) on my truck and they are excellant off-road. They are quieter and and perform better than swampers on the road. They dont work on wet roads any worse than other MT's. I'll give them a 9 out of 10, for the reason I'm not sure how long they will last yet. I know they are MT's but my swampers would only last 16k miles. So I'll have to wait and see.
Get them! I paid $159 from National Tire and Wheel. see sig for size.
