I was wondering whether extending the wheels out about 2 inches on each side would help keep my X
more stable in emergency manouvers and reduce the potential for rollovers.

Has any member tried them? Any member have an opinion about these?

I have seen wheel spacers.. (they use them to allow 4th generation F-body rims on 3rd gen F-bodies), and I think they are mounted via lugnuts (so you use lugnuts to mount space to current posts, then the spacer has posts for the wheel). I don't know if it'd add stability, but going out too far would make it look silly. And you may put alot more stress on the original posts/lugs then before since you're adding more metal/leverage.. though I'm not sure about that. smile

Later smile

Plus you'd tear the hell out of any fenders you have on the truck (which BTW- we all do wink )

How often are you doing emergency manuevers ?
How many times do you expect to roll it ?

If you're worried about it, sell it and buy a car.

I took some bad advice and went with a 4" bs rim. You're just asking for problems for yourself. My advice (FWIW) is to stay as close to stock as possable. The problems get more involved if you intend on going with bigger tires...

Wouldn't you also put extra stress on the suspension/steering components with extenders?

Yes, and the extra width isn't enough to make much difference anyway.
