17 inch Python rims and high performance tires. They stick out about an inch from the wheel well.

I have to track down the invoice to give the exact specs for the tires and rims and will edit the post to include that info.

Its not even lowered...now I have even less respect for you, as if that was possible.

Why hide your Xterra picture in here? Why not post it in the PICTURES forum for all to see? No wait, Ill do it for you.

It's only 1 1/2 inches lower to be exact. I kept telling everyone it wasn't a "rice boy" mobile, but they didn't believe me.

It doesn't look bad. I still wouldn't do it but to each his own.

What kind of tires do you have and what's the profile (i.e. 275/55/17R)?

Nitto's Extreme Performance 450's
275/50R/17
V-rating (up to 149mph)
they run around $155/tire

Anything any bigger without a lift would have rubbed the inner wheel well.

Wow, that's about as useful on an X as parachutes aboard a submarine!

And since you're so into spreading misinformation, I feel the need to correct you on your assertion that those are "racing" tires (though I see you've changed your signature. Wonder why?). First off, there are tires rated at W, Y, and Z--all higher rated than Vs, but that not the sad part. See, if you knew anything about racing, you'd know that real racing tires are not street legal. Therefore, they don't fall under the DOT's rating system at all. V rated "racing" tires is an oxymoron--racing tires are not rated.

I just finished answering my ump-teenth e-mail asking questions about my wheels, so I though tI would just copy and paste my most recent reply below.

1) wheel size? 17", American Racing, Painted, Pythons http://www.americanracing.com/ar2000/wheels/details.asp?wheelid=25

2) tire size? Nitto's Extreme Performance 450's 275/50R/17 http://www.nittotire.com/

3) are they wider than the stock rims? yes, almost 2 inches

4) did you have to do anything with your suspension? no

5) does it ride the same? it sits about 1 inch lower (estimate) and is of course a little stiffer.

6) are the wheels still flush with the body or do they stick out too far? the wheels stick out about 1 inch from the already portruding wheel well. You can add spacers if you want it to stick out further.

7) any problems with handling? no problems thus far.

One question, why is everyone at this board so against larger wheels????

Not everyone uses their X to go to the boondocks and climb mountains, i think those rims look really hot and would like to see some more pics!!

Becuase as people put larger, wider rims on their SUV (yes, it's an SUV, not a sports car), the manufacturers will offer such useless rims.

Nissan is now putting 17" wheels on ther 2002 Xterra, strictly because the American buying public wants it. Sadly, those of us who do use an SUV as originally intended get a less capable all around vehicle.

If you want sticky-outy wheels and a low rider stance, buy a PT Cruiser, as that is what it was designed for.

I agree with you somewhat, but remember...This is a public message forum with different types of people from all walks of life. If you post a picture, be ready for negative comments from someone, since not everyone has the same likes and dislikes...
