hi all. hopefully some one can advise. i searched for this "problem" but wasn't successful. i recently bought and '04 and have noticed that the brake pedal feels awfully spongy. especially in cold weather. fluid is fine and everything is in order (should be, she's only 4 month old). usually, with most vehicles, when you press the pedal, resistance increases as you approach a complete stop. not the case with the x. it's spongy all the way. i've driven my old man's excurrsion and have noticed more stopping power on an suv twice the size. is this something native to xterras? or is this due to rear drums? thanks!

I believe in the owners manual there is an procedure for adjusting your "brake booster."

Follow that procedure, and it should fix it.

If it doesn't, you may have some air in your lines.
