I am considering replacing my tires. I was thinking of mounting 30X9.50R15C BF GOODRICH ALL TERR T/A KO on my stock wheels. My X came with P265/70R15 110S BF GOODRICH LONG TRAIL T/A. wouldnt this tire mount easily without any modifications (ea trimming). i know a lot of people are mounting 31's but i really didnt want to cut any plastic. any advice pros and cons of the 30's. thanks for you help.

Do you have an 2002 or '01 or '00? I think the '02's are clearanced for 30" tires, but don't quote me! There mud flaps are shaped a little bit differently to allow "bigger" tires.

The 30" BFG is smaller than anything that came stock on the Xterra.

A little bit of trimming and a 31" would be a much better choice.

Yes the 30 will fit with no trimming. I would go with the 31's. Only a little trimming needed and they look better.

I was also reluctant to trim due to potential wife issues, but the amount you need to remove is very small.

Yes they can be put on a 2000 X. I have them on and I believe someone else does. You will have to some drilling of holes but all in all it took about 30 min to put them on.

The stock tires are all sidewall and the tread pattern on the 30" is wider. I had them and put them side by side with the long trails. Bigger seems to be better on this forum, that makes sense to some and doesn't for others.

I had the 30" BFG AT/KOs. Fine tire, but my rims are a lot more scraped up due to the narrowness of the tire. I went with the 31" BFG AT/KOs now and am much happier. Aside from the very minor plastic trimming there are no negative side effects. They are 1.2" larger in diameter than the 30" BFGs, so the extra .6" of ground clearance is nice. If you are just a poser they look better too!

I'm trying to find them at sears and I know nothing about tires.

Sears Tire Selector

In regards to the Sears thing, the website will show you tires that will fit stock... They don't like you putting 31" on there. Although, NJX was able to get them from Sears. So the ability to get them is not in question. It's their website that won't let you.

If you don't use the tire selector and just enter "BF Goodrich" in the search field it will return all the BFG's they have.

Yes, and the BFG 30" All Terrain is 29.5" in diameter. Smaller than anything from the factory.

Didn't mean for it to turn into this, but BFG AT smaller than a BFG Long Trail? Don't think so. I made a mistake in the actual diameter of the Long Trail; If it is a 235 70 R15, then the diamater is 28.1" and if it is a 235 75 R15 that equals 29.0" according to http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/

You think they look tuff you should see the mud tires .

Why wait? These tires are so much better then the stock ones even on road.

You got me there, however, I have never seen an Xterra with weenie tires on it (the only way to get them is with an XE V6 with no packages, or a 4 cylinder).

Everything around here has the 265/70 tires, which are bigger than a 30" All Terrain.
