Do you have an 2002 or '01 or '00? I think the '02's are clearanced for 30" tires, but don't quote me! There mud flaps are shaped a little bit differently to allow "bigger" tires.

Anyone know exactly how much smaller/shorter the 30/9.5 BFG AT is than the stock 265/70/15?
I believe the stock tire is 29.6" tall.

Yes the 30 will fit with no trimming. I would go with the 31's. Only a little trimming needed and they look better.

I was also reluctant to trim due to potential wife issues, but the amount you need to remove is very small. Trim picture from Xterrain.com 2002 not needing trimming - from OffroadX [ 01-16-2002: Message edited by: lemsip ]

Now, are the 2002 flaps able to be put on the 2000 models? How might that be accomplished? Only for the sake of my paint job...

I have them on and I believe someone else does. You will have to some drilling of holes but all in all it took about 30 min to put them on.

The stock tires are all sidewall and the tread pattern on the 30" is wider. I had them and put them side by side with the long trails. Bigger seems to be better on this forum, that makes sense to some and doesn't for others.

I had the 30" BFG AT/KOs. Fine tire, but my rims are a lot more scraped up due to the narrowness of the tire. I went with the 31" BFG AT/KOs now and am much happier. Aside from the very minor plastic trimming there are no negative side effects. They are 1.2" larger in diameter than the 30" BFGs, so the extra .6" of ground clearance is nice. If you are just a poser they look better too!

In regards to the Sears thing, the website will show you tires that will fit stock... They don't like you putting 31" on there. Although, NJX was able to get them from Sears. So the ability to get them is not in question. It's their website that won't let you.

If you don't use the tire selector and just enter "BF Goodrich" in the search field it will return all the BFG's they have.
Which one is the 31 BFG AT/KO?

Didn't mean for it to turn into this, but BFG AT smaller than a BFG Long Trail? Don't think so. I made a mistake in the actual diameter of the Long Trail; If it is a 235 70 R15, then the diamater is 28.1" and if it is a 235 75 R15 that equals 29.0" according to http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/

Drool damn this tire looks tuff. I can't wait for my grabbers to wear out. You think they look tuff you should see the mud tires . Why wait? These tires are so much better then the stock ones even on road.

Wrong-o. 2 35's the first year out. If you want to put 30" AT's on, go right ahead. Anyway, anyone have 32" AT's on and like them? [ 01-29-2002: Message edited by: Takeabreath ]

Looking at the BFG AT T/A 265/75R16 on a 2002 SE. They are listed at 31.8", while the Long Trails (265/70R16) are 30.7". Just looking at the truck, looks like should fit with minimal trimming (if any).
Has anyone done this?

Speaking of which, does anyone know if 31x10.5x16" will fit in the 02' wheel wells w/ out trimming? I have the 16" grabbers currently and may look at buying a more aggressive tire.

Has anyone done this? I was also looking at the BFG A/T T/A ko 265/75R/16 to replace the BFG long trail T/A's on my 2000 SE. and was wondering the same question as they are pushing 32". Thanks, Wade [ 02-03-2002: Message edited by: wmtrout ]

You can get all the specs including overall diameter in the PDFs on BFG's website. The 265/75R16 is listed as 31.8" (compared to my 32x11.50R15 at 31.7").

did your 32x11.50r15's at 31.7" fit with just the trimming? Are you stock or Did you lift?
I would appreciate any info anyone has.
Thanks: Wade

Stock, just trimming, and I finally got around to adding a few turns on the torsion bars but I'm not nearly as cranked as most of the others I've seen. I got a little rubbing in the inside top up front on some urban features before I cranked (namely crossing the dip at the entrance to my parking lot at an angle) and a rub now and then off-road. No problem since I finally added a couple inches between the top of the tire and the fender lip. It's still possible you'll get rubbing on the fuel line cover in the RR well, but it's not actually harming anything other than the plastic cover. I think it's more a function of width than diameter though. I switched to 25mm offset Pathfinder wheels which pushed the tires .6" further out and haven't touched it since (though I now rub the fender lip). The 265mm wide tires you're looking at are 10.46" wide, should clear the cover I'd say.

Don't waste your time with the 30" On my X went with the 31x10.50 BFG Long haul trails. Trimmed the bud flaps with a dremel tool. Took about 5 minutes. The truck looks much better.

Perhaps the 4x2 4 cylinders had the 235's but who really cares since I doubt anyone here has one!

Um, wrong. The '00 models only came with 15" wheels. The ones without the utility package came with the 235/70R15 tires.

Brent is absolutely right on this one. I checked my cardboard encased flip chart brouchure thingy (remember those?!) and it confirms his statement. Originally posted by Takeabreath:
The Xterra came standard with 235 70 R15 Long Trails first year out, approximately 29.6". So takeabreath's statement is "sorta" true. I don't think the 235's were that tall, but the 265's might have been. Boy, talk about beating a dead horse! Die you bastard, die!
