I decided on on a set of Goodyear Wrangler A/T-D(squared). I do not offroad with this vehicle.

My intentions were to get tires that look good, and fills the void. I also wanted the X to look more truck-like. The stock (255/65-16) odd-ball sized tires look too small for the vehicle. I got 255/70-16 that did a nice job of that.

The tires look good, with a very snug fit. I actually had to trim a little. In addition to removing the mud flaps, they accomplished exactly what I wanted.
Hopefully, along with the improved looks, they'll also hold up fairly well to highway use.

There is a guy here at this thread that put the 255/70's on and likes them. He says he had to trim a little which you mentioned you not wanted to do though.
