Just a quick question - - I'm planning to take the X from NH to FL next month, and would like to have a CB along for the ride. I don't need one all of the time around home. I'm thinking that a hand held model like the Cobra HH ROAD TRIP might work. It comes with a magnetic antenna and 12v plug in , so it seems like an easy in and out kind of system.

Anybody have any comments or suggestions?

Thanks

I would take a cobra HH38 WX ST. That a good handheld with a lot features. You can convert it to take an external anternna and a DC power adaptor.

Thanks,

I have never been satisfied with a hand held CB. What I would recommend is a relatively inexpensive "regular" CB. If you do not want to permanently mount it in your Xterra, just solder a cigarette lighter power plug on to the power leads, and use a magnetic mount antenna on the roof. Your reception and transmission will be much better than with a hand held.

I do this all the time when traveling in my wife's car which is not equipped with a permanent mounted CB.
