For those who are too lazy to read a search, the 02 X, works like the 01's for splicing purposes.

Disclaimer: i only tried to do this with the parking lights portion.

{copied from ElektroKen.. so as not to upset him for plagiarizing it}

Use the Black/Red from 2-Pin connector. Cut it off, and tape end that goes back to the truck. Splice harness end of wire into:

"For those that want the ability to turn on the fog lights anytime, connect the 6" jumper wire to the purple wire in the 8-pin connector harness using the tap connector. Note that the headlight warning system will NOT remind you to turn the fogs off if you choose this option.

For those that want the ability to use the fog lights whenever the parking lights are on, connect the 6" jumper wire to the blue/red wire in the 8-pin connector harness using the tap connector. In this case the headlight warning system will let you know if you leave the fogs on."

I skipped the jumper wire altogether and just spliced mine together. Have Fun!!

Don't anyone forget to thank ElectroKen!

The original post with directions for th...t to last post.

I did this mod without the parking lights option.
Worked like a charm.

I thought I'd give this topic(s) a bump for new member wanting this option

No one verified that the wiring harness's for the 2000-2001's are the same as the 2002' and up.....

The 2000 is the odd-ball for fog light wiring. The 2001 and 2002 should be identical. The jury is out on the 2003.

It's not identical. Tried to do this mod, but the colors and configurations did not match.
I have a 2, a 4 and a 7 wire connector with the following wires:

2: red/black, red/green
4: red/black, blue/red, purple, yellow/black
7: red/green, green/red, yellow/green, green, red/white, green/yellow, red.

While I had the red/black on the 2 wire connector, I did not have the blue/red on an 8 wire connector. Instead it is on the 4 wire connector. I did not try jumping that wire instead.

Since some '02's have the same wiring (apparently), I would think that they might have changed the wiring depending on the build date.

depending on your local laws, but isn't it illegal to run fog lights without having your normal headlights on?

I remember hearing that someplace, but I figured it wasn't something I was going to do - so I didn't pay much attention to it.

Our friends at Nissan must be bored. They seem to change the fog light wiring every 16 months or so. This sort of thing must drive the people at the parts counter insane.

Well yes it would depend on your state laws but in Illinois it is not illegal to run with them on without your headlights on unless of course it is dark. But during slightly dusk conditions it would be fine. It is however illegal to have fog lights on with your brights in Illinois.

Now I have another question when doing this fog light mod does it still allow you to turn it on and off using the factory column switch???

Yes it does in the 2001 and in the several 2002s where I've seen it work. We'll need to figure out this mid-2002 wiring change though.
