I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me if there are any outs on the back of the head unit. I was thinking about adding an amp to the factory head unit and upgrading all speakers.

sorry, there are no rca outs, but if you got an amp with speaker level inputs you should be able to splice into the existing speaker wires to hook the amp up. be sure to upgrade the speakers, they're not to good

No,there arent any rca outs, but u can buy some that are made to be spliced in your fatory radio. You can hook any amp to a factory radio, you just need the rca splicers to do so. I'm not sure what they are called but I know it can be done and it is'nt that difficult.

you either have to have an amp with speaker level outputs or buy a line out converter that you can use rca's with.

the line out converters are about $25 each. A lot of people have added amps to the stock head unit, so look back through this forum's history to see how they did it.

I used the Clarion APX600.5 that has speaker level input and it works great.

Quite right- if you are going from line level (spkr wire) to pre amp level (RCA) beware of 'turn-on thump'

Make sure your volume is down low when you power up the first time and see if there is any... you'll know it when you hear it, and if you don't that is even better.

that's the one thing I can't get rid of. the amp itself takes the high level inputs, so i can't really adjust it. When it turn on the truck or when I turn it off you hear a loud thump, though the volume of the radio before hand doesn't make a difference in how loud it is.
