So I'm thinking about finding a cheap 6-disk changer out of another X (on eBay or something).

Has anyone done this "Plug N Play" style? I don't want to do any rewiring if I don't have to. I currently have this one (stolen pic off eBay):

Have any of you replaced this with another factory one? If so, which one did you get and what should I look to avoid? Thanks in advance.

I know some of you will laugh as you take your stereos more seriously than I do, but a 6-disk stock is better than an oversized 1-disk stock. smile

John,

I am thinking of doing the same thing. I know it will fit the space. I am just wondering if it will have the same harness hook ups in the back.

As John asked. Has anyone done this? Will it work? Is it a simple plug and play?

I will put my 6 disk in dash unit up on ebay pretty quick. It's from the 01 SE. There shouldn't be much trouble swapping the units, but if need be, I've got the wiring diagrams and part number for the wiring harnesses, which Best buy sells both for $15.

I will be doing the same shortly. I would be fairly certain it is the same. If someone pulls their unit in a 2001, I can compare it to mine.

Thanks for the heads-up ViperX. I may keep an eye out for it.

So anybody do this type of swap yet? C'mon, somebody surely did, right? smile

Or is anybody using theirs as a paperweight and want to send it my way for real cheap? laugh
