Ok, I was just trying to remove panel to swap stereos. (i have a 2002 xterra, and i'm putting my factory stereo back in).

So, I unclamped the panel/trim from area near gear shifters. Now, lifted panel up and un-screwed a pair of screws which were easy to see (also noticed another pair of screws beneath these, which are more hidden--didn't touch).

I then un screwed the pair of screws under the AC knobs.

(so a total of 4 screws removed and clamps unclamped)

At this point I thought it would be easy to remove the whole panel, but it seems like I'm still connected somewhere. I have seen mention of needing to remove the hazard light and cig lighter, but I didn't attempt that. What am I missing??

Let's see two under the climate control and two at the gear shift trim. That sounds right. I installed a new CD player in mine about three months ago, and I still have the instructions on how to remove the panel. If you want, you can just find me on AIM and I'll send them to you.
