I didn't find this in a previous tread (I only found 4).

Does will any FSR radio work with any other FSR radio? like can you use a Radioshack model with a Motorola model? and if you can are the sub channels compatable?

I'm looking into getting a set. Any one know where I can find the yellow Motorola 250's? I figure they would be good for camping being easy to see if you drop them.

I got a great deal at this place. They had the best price i could find on the 289, plus doubled the warranty to 2 years. According to the web site, they still have some of the 250s in stock. Might be worth checking out. http://www.bulverdehometheater.com/slk.html

Yes, they're all compatible with each other.

The 38-subcode (aka privacy codes) on some models don't prevent any other FRS from hearing what comes from one with the subcode on. If you're using channel 10, subcode 18, anyone tuning in channel 10 without a subcode selected or available can still hear you.
They only permit you to screen out incoming FRS transmissions on the same channel that either don't have a subcode, or aren't using the same subcode on your channel. It's helpful when there are a lot of FRS users in the area and you're hearing folks you don't want to.

In short, it is an incoming filter, not an outgoing "scramble" feature.

www.northerntool.com has the yellow MOtorola 250s for $69.99 each according to their latest catalog. You could check a site like mysimon.com for the best price.

You can get a free pair of Cobra MicroTalk FRS radios by test driving an Xterra!

Thanks for the correction DD

Those are *COBRA* microtalk radios NOT
