Well, I finally got up the nerve to cut into the factory wiring harness to modify the driving lights. It was a bit confusing at first. Once I had unplugged all the connectors and checked them, it really was easy. Thanks a lot ElectroKen. laugh

Did you get any pictures of the harness? Like you, I want to do it but my lack of electrical knoledge is stopping me from doing it.

Sorry, no pics, but the 2 connectors in question are both one the left side of the steering column. The 2 connector has a black foam cover around it and the 8 connector is right below it. After doing it I realize it is a 10 minute job. The other 50 minutes was just nervous caution.
