I have a friend who lives in Hawaii, but is moving back to the "main land". So he needs to transport it over.

Any clue how he goes about this? Ideas in cost? Any companies you'd suggest?

Thanks a lot.

Matson is your only choice, as far as I know. Cost is about $1,000.

Wow, that is much cheaper that I would have expected to ship across the ocean. Most commercial carriers charge upwards of $1200 to cart your vehicle across country.

Luckily I found a small private carrier when I shipped on of my cars back east - cost me a whole $450 and I was able to pack the car full of stuff and use it like a mini shipping container - my big grip with the commercial "big boys".

I paid $898 to have Matson ship my Xterra to California from Oahu.

Horizon Lines (used to be Sealand) offers container shipping for Cars now. Matson might even offer it by now. Definately would consider paying the extra money to put my Xterra into a locked container shielded from the elements

Word to the wise:

Make sure you take ANYTHING that is even remotely valuable out of your truck before you ship it, or someone else will.

Just drive it. Hawaii does have interstate highways right? [Too much XOC]

They are called interstates to get those federal bucks, but instead of having the "I" designation they have an "H" designation. H-1, H-2, H-3. Those are the only ones I know about.
