I'm leaving Erie, PA Thursday morning. I hope to be in Colorado within 3 days, but have allowed an extra day if necessary. Just keep your FRS on and I'm sure the people arriving will start calling out to see who's already there.

I'll (we'll) be leaving about 11AM Sunday morning, and plan to pull into Ouray about 4:00 or so. Yeah, I know... but don't hate me 'cause I live so close. If anyone wants to hook up for grub, beers, or hot springs we're at the Riverside Inn. I'm guessing the springs are clothing optional like here in SF. :p It's gettin' close, guys. See ya there. You kids makin' the long roadies keep cool and get there in one piece. peace. ps. I'm bringing much more beer than I can possibly drink.

550 miles in 7 hours ? Good luck, Expedia says 10 hours.
Well yes do the math that is 10 hrs at 55 miles an hour. since I average more like 80 that cuts my time by quite a bit 80x7=560
expedia expects you to drive very slowly to where you are going. I actually made phoenix in 6 this summer.

I'm going to leave SLC at 4-5am Monday morning and try to arrive in Ouray around 11-12 to check in at the KOA. So it looks like I'll be starting GOX with coffee rather than beer.

Dude, From what I understand if you attempt to average 80mph (in an Xterra) from Durango to Ouray you will die. Also, be forewarned: Every time I have traveled to Moab the stretch between Pagosa and Durango has been CRAWLING with cops. I don't know if you plan to go that way, but coming from El Paso it's a strong possibility. Question: what was your elevation change from El Paso to Phoenix? My guess is you hammered down all the flatness that is I-10. Also, since at 560 miles you will have to fill up twice, you will really need to average 85 or so. Difficult in an Xterra to say the least, especially in the mountain passes when you get behind Joe Family in the Chevy Astro. Come Sunday, it will all become clear to you. My guess is 8-8 1/2 hours for you. Don't worry, boss, the beer will still be cold.

I am leaving friday morning at "0 dark 30" and driving as far as i can. when i get tired i will find a motel. i will leave there at "0 dark 30" again the next day (saturay) and see how far i get. hopefully somewhere along there that day i will meet up with FSR and Oleg in FSR's truck and swap drive times for the rest of the trip and get into Ouray on Sunday morning. unfortunately the condo is not available until 3pm, so it looks like I will possibly be sleeping outside in my X until i can get into it, unless i can figure some other arrangements out. i hope i can find a hotel when i get tired. but with my luck i am forseeing sleeping a bit in rest areas possibly.
if you see a lifted green X with an ARB, rear tire carrier and MAXC sticker, please make sure i am ok, breathing and alive. I'll be traveling mostly on Interstate 70 from the looks of it and lurking on CB channel 19.

Wrong. We'll have a wake for you in Ouray after you die on the way up. Averaging 55 means you need to travel about 75 constantly over a distance that far. You do have to pull over for gas and to pee once in awhile. To average 80, you'll need to run 100 the whole time. I also don't think you'll be averaging 80 on highway 550, since it's 30 miles an hour for 60 miles, and the corners are more like 15. I've driven 75-80 miles an hour to Moab on nothing but I-70, and barely averaged 60 for the whole trip and that was with only one fill-up. I actually made phoenix in 6 this summer. And that's only averaging 70 mph on nothing but I-10. Drive safe, we'll look for you around 5PM on Sunday.

damn you guys are right I am not at all familiar with the area if there are mountain passes etc. I am gonna have to factor in a few more hours damn. As far as breaks etc. I only stop for gas I hold my urine till then and don't eat anything to avoid a #2 delay. Well looks like I better leave a bit earlier. Don't think I am a crazy driver or anything but that is the speed I drive on interstates. My guess I will be ok from here past albuquerque but once I get into colorado looks like I am gonna have some delays. Oh well if I have to drive slow that just means I get to enjoy the scenery.
See yall sometime sunday afternoon and hope the beer is cold.

Leaving Phoenix around 7am on Saturday and planning on getting in to Ouray around late afternoon or early evening. Looks like I might have the town to myself for Saturday night reading the rest of your schedules, I'll drink a beer for ya Ivan- the road between Durango and Ouray lists out at 80 miles and they say it takes two hours, I don't think that's a road you can do 80mph. I would imagine there are some other places like that on your way too. So take it easy, leave a little earlier, and get there in one piece, I'd hate to have to drink without you....but I will Mike

Ivan-I would just go a hell of a lot faster b4 I get to Colorado so it would make up for the lost time. But I always do the speed limit. Anyone coming from Cali just look for 2 cloud white X's and wave as you pass us by. (Speed Limit remeber) I think Xterraz and I are leaving at 7 ish on sat.
