Why is GOX a special thing? It was most likely the first large (NATIONAL) Gathering Of Xterras held in July of 2000, which was before most people had bought their Xterras. I made it into Ouray that weekend 1 week after purchasing my truck. Many of the people who attended have gone on to have a significant impact on our ability to modify our trucks, both in sources of parts and mainly in the ability of owners to share information. Have you every been to the San Juan mountians? If not, it is hard to explain the magnificent beauty of the area. Termed the Switzerland of the Rockies by many. Come out and visit our magnificent state, spend your money and GO BACK HOME. DO NOT MOVE HERE. We have plenty of people here already. But please visit Colorado. GOX is more of a West coast thing I'm not sure that I can agree with Olegkha on the above statement. Unless we recently lost California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona, we are not on the West Coast. I know that the East Coast, especially NY and NJ think that they are the center of the country, but the center is much further west. Todd

Todd, you right about CO not beeing West coast but what i meant was there are no people who will drive from west coast to ECXC ... so i would say Gox if for West coast people like Ecxc for East coast people and CO is one of the beautifulest (is that a word?) places i have ever been to

It wasn't my intention to sound sarcastic about CO being "special". I just was curious as to why CO. I didn't know we had a gathering in the east coast. I'm just jealous that I can't go.

I think you have to go to GOX to get a t-shirt.

My house in Derry, NH is about 2250 miles from CO. But it is definetily worth the drive. There is no comparison between 4 wheeling in NH and CO.

So is GOX locked in to the same week every year? I would go in a second but that week is never going to work for me (wife's birthday). Just curious. -Chris

What a better way to celebrate a birthday...It will be my birthday while I'm out there as well...we can have a drink or two or three together.

OK lets Clarify, since some people seem confused... GOX=National Gathering of Xterra Owners held in Colorado because, well, Ian lives there... oh yeah and they do have some of the best trails in the country ECXC=Eastern North America baby brother to GOX(held on the east coast, but owners from all over are welcome) WESTX=Western North America baby brother to GOX, but like ECXC owners from all over are welcome so think about it... you think GOX is a long drive from NH... try WESTX, its being held near Barstow CA. GOX is the big one, THE gathering to end all gatherings, but if you decide 2k miles is too far to travel, odds are EXCX or WESTX is a much closer trip.

I'm not going to GOX (I don't own an X), but I travelled there with a couple of Xterra owners over the July 4th holiday. And let me tell you, GOX is not just about getting together with a bunch of other Xterra owners. That, naturally, is a large part of it, but the primary attraction is the scenery. I posted photos of my "personal GOX" trip here . I don't imagine GOX would be very popular if it were held in Oklahoma City or someplace in Kansas, for example, even though those locations are more 'central'. There's just not that much going on (geographically, that is) the the midwest. If you aren't close to CO, then treat GOX as a major roadtrip vacation; you'll have a different perspective. And it will be a trip you won't forget. P.S. By the way, driving down Poughkeepsie Gulch isn't much fun in a thunderstorm at 6pm. The bypass to the "rock" is like a waterslide!!
