Anyone know of this crib?
They claim it to be .6 mile north of town. Queen bed, dish tv, bathroom, blah, blah, blah... for $60 per night. Allegedly recently remodeled.
just wondering...

I stayed in the "Camping cabins" at Riverside last year. The cabins were comfortable for two but without the amenities listed for the actual hotel. Distance is probably accurate plus it is next door to the hot springs pool ------------------ Fletch "We Know Who You Are... Bronze"

Yeah, the cabins seemed a little "rustic" for me - I am not a camper. Seemed like a good price, too. I like TV, I like hot showers (private ones, or at least by invite only ) soft, fluffy pillows, and when applicable, a freezing A/C unit. Oh, and a place for the beer. Thanks for the feedback. ------------------ "Xterra Pride""all your beer are belong to us"

Seriously look into lodging or camping, as I'm not sure what the laws are about sleeping in your car in city limits. The whole town is residential, and I doubt anyone would want someone sleeping in front of their house. The parking lots for every hotel are always full, so that won't work well either, and you'll risk getting towed. ------------------ Regards, Ian

maybe all us car campers can find a campground to park in and all of us can crash there and share the low cost. Once we start to stink we can split the cost of a cheap hotel and take a shower. I will be crashing in the X at least a few nights and getting a hotel when I need a shower or a decent bed. The other club xterra people will be welcome to use my shower. ------------------ Were in the spirit world a$$hole they can't see us. '01 super black XE 4x4 name: VADERX

Camping is very possible. I camped last year and there is plenty of Forest Service land just outside of town. I went up the road towards Box Canyon Falls and Yankee Boy Basin (take US550 towards Silverton) for about 5 minutes and found a great campsite next to the river. The water was really cold for a full immersion bath but there are hot springs in town. Plus there is a campground just past the hot springs with free hot showers.

Check out the KOA in Ouray, which is a really nice full-featured campground that's inexpensive, has showers, water, etc. Several of us shared sites last year and you can generally fit three tents/trucks on many of the sites. Try to share a site with somebody that has one if their booked?
Xterrain, e-mail me @ sccxterra@yahoo and I will hook/pair you up at KOA at one of the sites we already have reserved if you want?

Kind of funny, I just made reservations at the Riverside Inn in the hotel section. Talked to a guy named JC that took the reservation. He owns an Xterra that he just bought and didn't know anything about GOX. I let him in on it and pointed him towards the XOC. He says he goes to school 75 miles away and will have to come back for that week to join in on the fun. Check out the KOA in Ouray, which is a really nice full-featured campground that's inexpensive, has showers, water, etc. Several of us shared sites last year and you can generally fit three tents/trucks on many of the sites. Try to share a site with somebody that has one if their booked? I've only got one camp site for 4 days (I'll sleep in the X the other night, unless I can book another night) but I'm willing to let any GOX'ers sleep that can fit.

RE: "How about if we bring beer?" Dude you're from Utah and you want to pay us with Utah beer? So that would take me what, about a case to get me buzzed? I just checked with the Riverside Inn. They still have plenty of vacancies in their hotel ($60.00) and cabins ($35.00). The cabins do not have phones, tv, or showers. The hotel only has upstairs rooms available.
Looks like I get to join you for a couple of days!!!

I also understand the cabins are BYOL - bring your own linens. I am in the hotel, I think in a downstairs room, but don't really care. This place seemed like a bargain compared to others I called about. Glad I won't be the only one there if it sux... ------------------ "Xterra Pride""all your beer are belong to us"
