Seems like the new Four Wheeler magazine has a bunch of jeeps riding trails around Ouray. There is a great pic overlooking Telluride on Black Bear. Pretty good article...especially the part about having a repair spot for all the broken Jeeps! Ha ha...oh wait a minute. Mine still isn't drivable. Damn.

For anyone thinking about going...make the drive. It's worth the trip. Just bring lots of beer laugh

CJ-5
Beat to hell on the trails of tellixo, but it has full width chevy axles, locked(welded) front and rear, 39.5 swampers, and I put in a 350 laugh .

It still doesn't drive though. frown I've got to get a new radiator for it this weekend, reenforce a steering bracket and put in the driveshafts. And it all cost less that the mods I took off the X. It's still a Heep though. frown

You're not the only one. I'm rebuilding my CJ-5, I have been acquiring parts for 6 months to upgrade or repair this thing. New wiring harness, new radiator, new clutch and flywheel, new steering column, flat Springs for a SOA, fuel injected AMC 360 V8 and a welder to put it all together. I had a 12 hour round trip yesterday and today to picked up a T-18 transmission that came out of a CJ. I still haven't decided what axles I want under it. Dana 60's or Rockwells. I've thought about just beefing up the stock axles and drive them till they grenade. In either case my frame is going to be extended at least 10 inches on either end as part of the SOA.
