What's the weather like out there in September? Should we expect snow? Will snow change the trails that we do?

Expect anything from 80 degrees to 10 degrees.

Bright sunshine, rain, snow, it may happen.
Any serious accumulation of snow should not happen though, which is one reason I moved GOX to September. Looks like Black Bear will not be open this year until after July, so we would have missed it.

September sounds late, but it's still Summer.

Check Xterra Journal for our pictures from 1999, we had sunshine and a blizzard on the same day in a 5 mile stretch.

Top of Engineer Pass...

15 minutes later, 2 miles away...

Ian

That's nuts! Only 15 minutes apart? Well, if we do get snow, at least we have the Hot Springs! I was reading up on Ouray, sounds like an awesome little town. I talked to a few townspeoples and they said that's a great time of year to come, there's not many folks out there.

Never know what'll happen... Also when we're out on the trails.. I suggest havin a set of boots or something, an pants.. never know if you'll need to change or something..

Bring long pants and a long jacket or two. Even when it's sunny and warm in Ouray, it can be 40 degrees at 13,000 feet. The easiest is some baggy sweats to put on over shorts if it gets cold.

Bring some good hiking boots or shoes too, not flip-flops. You never know when you'll have to hike out of somewhere.
