Just called Calmini....their skid plates are NOT compatible with the '08 xterra...does anyone have ideas? he said you can drill a third set of holes that are missing on the new frame...but it's awful close to the gas tank and wouldn't recommend it...ideas anyone?

I wouldn't recommend drilling holes in the gas tank either. laugh

I take it there is no skid plates on the '08 model from the factory?

The skids I bought from Shrockworks bolted into all the factory holes without drilling anything. The only problem I had was that one of the nuts inside the frame was broken loose and I couldn't bolt into that location.

factory running boards on the 08 have 2 mounting brackets only.

Are we talking Skids Ie. protects drivetrain components, or are we talking Sliders Ie. protects rocker panels and provides for a little step????

Shouldn't be a problem, like I said they usually bolt into the factory locations.

Just have someone weld a bead down two sides of the third leg if you don't want to drill the holes.
Another idea: Not sure of the spacing but could you fit something like a flat piece of 1/4" steel between the rail and the gas tank? If so then drill away as by time you drill through the frame and hit the plate you will know to stop.

You could also use a drill stop to set the depth of the drill bit.

I say just give Jim at Shrock Works a call

If he has yet to build them for the 08s he will be the one that will.
